THE PATH
Release date: 18 March 2009
Platform: Windows
When I first heard about this game, I couldn’t help but dwell in anticipation. What is The Path? For those of you who don’t know, The Path is a short horror game made by Tale of Tales based on old versions of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale. Although instead of controlling one Little Reddie, you’ll get 6 incarnations of our red heroine. The game’s psychological aspect does get under your skin and the focus of the game is not to surprise you out of your chair.
The goal of the game isnt to achieve something but rather experience something. Again this is not a game like tomb raider let alone American Mcgee’s alice where you have to carefully execute your double jump in order to leap from one place to another. Quite frankly, the word game doesnt quite cut it.
“It’s not a game… its an experience”
There will be a lot of emotional beatdowns as well as disturbing images as you interact with the objects and NPCs throughout the game. Are you ready?
“Six sisters live in an apartment in the city. One by one their mother sends them on an errand to their grandmother, who is sick and bedridden. The teenagers are instructed to go to grandmother’s house deep in the forest and, by all means, to stay on the path! Wolves are hiding in the woods, just waiting for little girls to stray.
But young women are not exactly known for their obedience, are they? Will they be able to resist the tempations of the forest? Will they stay clear of danger? Can they prevent the ancient tale from being retold?”
The PC game will be available for purchase and download from Tale of Tales’ own website, from Direct2Drive and from Steam. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
