Problem #1: Splinter Cell: Conviction PC encounters System Validation error / crash
Possible Solution #1: (By Catgoth from the Steam Forums and Exile.Luciola from the Ubisoft forums)
I THINK I got in. Rename systemdetection.dll to systemdetectionbackup.dll
This causes an error to not find the file, BUT, the Ubi Launcher launches and allows you to log in. Goody.
All this Validation does is make sure your machine can run your game in the first place. Durr.
The aformentioned .dll can be found in
dir
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\tom clancy’s splinter cell conviction\src\system
Now all you have to do is cross your fingers and pray you get past the “Establishing Connection” screen, which is the beloved DRM.
Possible Solution #2: (By sam2000_290 from the Ubsoft forums)
I got it to work by launching the uplaybrowser.exe. I don’t know, I just ran this, told me to login and then the game starts. Or maybe, b/c after I clicked the launcher, it finally shows up when I clicked the uplaybrowser.exe. I don’t know, give it a try.
Problem #2: Splinter Cell: Conviction encounters constant game crashing / crashes and graphics glitches

Hello all, If you have an ATI ( graphic ) card and are running into performance issues, make sure you have the latest display drivers and also try downloading this ATI hotfix ( ATI Catalyst 10.4a driver ) before playing and retry.

Well I finally found a solution that works for me so far. I rolled back the ATI driver to 8.10 (many sites say that many issues didn’t arise until after that driver) and so far the game runs great. I am actually pretty far in now.
Problem #3: Splinter Cell: Conviction PC encounters random crashing / crashes / freezes / freezing / lock ups / CTD / crash to desktop while playing on a laptop

according to the Official game requirements, it says ‘Laptop models of these cards may work but are not supported’.
Problem #4: Splinter Cell: Conviction encounters wired controller problems ( wrong button mapping)

According to Ubisoft customer service, if you download the Xinput driver it should fix the problem with wired controllers. I downloaded the driver, but my wired Xbox controller still didn’t work. However, my wired Logitech controller now works,which didn’t work before. You can get the driver here

Hey folks! I have some horrible texture warping going on, flickering, and crashing every short interval, and I use an ATI Radeon HD 4850, suffice to say, Catalyst Control Center was installed.
I uninstalled Control Center and then auto-updated the drivers using the tool in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager, then under “Display Adapters” selected my video card and clicked the “Update Driver Software” button.
No more flickering, stretching, warping, or crashing so far.
Problem #7: What Internet ports need to be open to play Splinter Cell: Conviction online?
Possible Solution #1: (By Ubisoft Solution Center)
If you have a router in your home network, please make sure that you have the latest firmware installed for that device. Your router manufacturer should be able to help you complete this update.
- In addition, the following ports will need to be open in your router or any firewall software you may be running:
9103, 9100, 10196 (UDP outbound/inbound)
80, 3081, 3105 (TCP outbound)
22350 – 22380 (TCP inbound)
If you are unsure of how ports work, the best course of action may be to contact your router manufacturer, system administrator or ISP for more information.
Problem #8: Splinter Conviction: PC encounters Ubisoft Game Launcher Error: Error code 1 when launching
Possible Solution #1: (By Jaideska from the Steam forums)
You have to go to start and put “regedit” in your start search location.
Once inside Regedit, go to:
HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/ubioft and delete “ubisoft game launcher” folder.
THEN go into:
HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall
In this folder you’ll see a crap load of Registry keys, they’re in numerical order. Scroll down until you find:
{888F1505-C2B3-4FDE-835D-36353EBD4754}
This is the launcher’s registry key. Delete it.
Now you’ve manually un-installed something that was somehow deleted without completely being taken out of the registry.
Go to http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/lau…rInstaller.exe (this is a direct download which your browser may represent by an “about:blank” page, but the download request should still go through.)
to download the new launcher, or re-install Splinter Cell Conviction and it’ll re-install the launcher now that it’s no longer in the registry.
If you get “System Validation” and it crashes the exe, go to:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\tom clancy’s splinter cell conviction\src\system
and delete or rename the “systemvalidation.dll” file.
THERE IS NO DANGER IN DELETING THIS:
Anytime steam updates, (or if you do a file validation) Steam will download this .dll and replace it once again. Which means you will have to delete it every time the game is update or you do a file validation.
After you do this, when you start the game, an error will appear saying it can’t find the system validation software.
Click “ok” and the game will start and bring up the Ubisoft login screen for the DRM.
If you start the game and it is frozen on “Establishing Connection” just hit cancel, wait a few minutes (or reboot if you wish) and then try again, this is a server bandwidth issue and you just have to get “lucky” to connect.
That’s all the troubleshooting I’ve done to get my game to work so far.
OH, and turn down all your graphics eye candy if you don’t want fatal crashes.
Problem #9: Can’t find the product key for Splinter Cell: Conviction PC
Solution: (By FredEx919, Ubisoft Technical Support)
The key should be listed at the bottom of the first paper. It should have a notice about the UBI Shop and the CD-Key should be listed below. If you do not have one printed, you can either attempt an exchange at the retailer or contact Support for a replacement key.
Problem #10: How to play Splinter Cell: Conviction PC on 2 cores?
Possible Solution #1: (By KingDanielO from the Ubisoft forums)
After you have loaded the Game’s Main Menu, Open Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and Click on the Processes Tab. Now Right click the process that is running e.g. conviction_game.exe, and Click on the ‘Set Affinity’ option, and then ‘Uncheck’ any 6 boxes labelled as CPU 0, CPU 1 etc., and click on the OK button. But first Launch the game and then press ‘ALT-TAB’ to go back to the desktop, and now open the Task Manager, and follow the above method. Press ‘ALT-TAB’ to go back to the game.
NOTE. Some Core i7 CPU chips, Display 8 boxes instead of 4, under the processes Tab. These are actually Threads. Each of the four cores can process up to two threads simultaneously, so the processor appears to the OS as ‘eight’ CPUs. So that’s why I told you to Unckeck 6 boxes. OR, you can turn ‘Hyper-threading’ to OFF in the BIOS, and uncheck only 2 boxes.
Problem #11: Splinter Cell: Conviction Xbox 360 encounters crashes / keeps crashing while playing the campaign
Possible Solution #1: (By FredEx919, Ubisoft Technical Support)
Have you tried just completely removing any files stored on your hard drive for Splinter Cell Conviction and restarting the game? Also if you have the sapce try installing the game to the hard drive as well. With the game highlighted from the “My Xbox” screen press “Y” for Game Details and you should have an option to install to the hard drive. Hopefully one of these are able to fix your problem, but if not you may even want to exchange for a different copy.
Problem #12: Where to obtain the content of the USB drive that came with Splinter Cell: Conviction

John try to disable audio acceleration. I am guessing you’ve got some integrated audio (Realtek HD maybe?). It didn’t help for me but for lot of people it did the trick…

N8tiveSkillz I also have the same issue, but it also happens during the gameplay which is really annoying. The only solution seems to be is to change anything in the graphic option. Then it turns normal, but it’s allways only a matter of time until it comes back again.

Problem: Main menu isn’t displayed correctly
I’m not sure if Nvidia users have the same problem, but here is what should work for Ati users:
1. Go to the Catalyst control center
2. Click on Graphics at the top and select 3D
3. Go to AA and make sure that it uses application settings
4. Go to AF and make sure that it uses application settings

Hi, I can’t seem to play with the WASD controls.
If I switch to a gamepad everything is ok.
In the keyboard the commands WASD don’t work. And the thing is, if I try to change them in the options, the game stops running.
And I’m terrible with a gamepad, it takes the fun out of it for me.

Okay. So apparently my game have been freezing up, both ingame and in the menu once.
This is what i did to fix it:
1. Start up task manager.
2. Launch Conviction.
3. Start up a game.
4. When the game has loaded and you can move around/Or is in a cut scene – You ALT-TAB out to the taskmgr.
5. Then you right click Conviction_game.exe and select Set affinity.
6. Then you check all the boxes – Press Ok – Then go back into the game.
7. It should now run normally.
8. PS: You need to start Taskmgr up from the start. If you don’t you can’t alt-tab out of the game.

Thank you so much for the rolling back 8.10 ATI drivers suggestion. My 3850 HD kept crashing even with 10.4a. Only problem I have now is every 30 minutes it will freeze for 2 seconds which, believe me, is NOTHING compared to the hell it was before.

My game came with no CD-Key. Awesome job Ubisoft. Just a big BLANK SPACE titled “CD KEY” and nothing below. Good quality control. Now I have to get my money back and if I’m feeling generous to you perhaps I”ll just demand a replacement copy. For Ati users.
Changing the slider for the “mipmap” textures can help with the main menu text not showing up and graphic problems in game for some.
If you have to it set to the left side (High performance) you can slide it towards quality. 1 notch did it for me (perfomance level) but more might help more or not.

I am also encountering crashes with my ATI HD 3870. Upgrading to 10.4a made the graphics run smoother, however, the crashes were still there and occurred even more often.
So now I’m desperate and want to try the reroll to 8.10 but I can’t seem to find any link to it. Anyone care to help?

Splinter Cell Conviction Menu Problem?
For some reason i cant see the main menu of the game, now it’s fixed:
I have an Ati card, if you also have an ati card, follow these steps:
- Open the ‘Catalyst control Center
- Go to ‘Graphics’ at the top and select ’3d’
- Go to ‘AA’ and make sure that ‘Use application settings’ is put on
- Do the same with ‘AF’
That should fix it, have fun playing the game

For ATI users not seeing the main menu, this worked for me Alt+Tab while playing the game, then Alt+Tab back. Hope it works for you. Good Luck!

@kristinn: I got a bluescreen once after I switched off “VPU Recover”. So you could check if it’s activated. Go to the “CCC”, then to “VPU Recover” and make sure the box near “Enable VPU Recover” is checked.
@everyone: I still get these gayass-crashes. I tried 10.4a and 8.10, both didn’t work for me … what’s left to do?

hi..even i use dell xps m1530…i hav ur same problem…i updated my bios to the latest one along with the graphics card..i tried installing it on windows 7 on both 32 n 64 bit…i tried using the skidrow crack n i tried using the dormine server emulator…when i open the game..a black screen jus flashes instantly n crashes to the desktop without any messages or notification…iv even tried the multiplayer crack also…tried modifying the ubisoftconfig file,tried updatin to tha patch 1.02…but absolutely no luck..no change at all after trying all the possible methods available now..any1 any idea how to fix this issue??any one…pls help

Guys, if u have an ATI video card and you are having the VPU recovery problem, get windows 7 and download the latest video drivers. I’ve been having vpu recovery porblems every 10 min with my XP but with my windows 7 I am at level 9 and still had no problems

I am getting horrible lag and crash issues, during the menu load screen it stars to crash horribly, during some scenes it gets laggy and crashy and i dont want to look on the cutscenes anymore because it crashes so much, my CPU usage jumps to the top and PC Crashes with BSoD telling me it had critical error. I am downloading new drivers for my card to fix the lags and crashes so it looks like it will not use my CPU anymore and will start using GPU instead.

just like Xenoth writes, I have the same issue. I’m stuck when entering the game. A window keeps on saying “Establishing network connection. Please wait”. I’ve tried to get past it by opening ports etc. Almost everyone have this problem and there seems to be no solution for it.

Hello,i dont seem to find an answer any where… so i will ask here.
my problame is that my splinter cell cant go past the loading screen even befor the main menu…its just loading and loading with no results.its not fully stuck cause in the left bottom side there are the balls that move there as a sing of loading ….any way after a long time of wating hopeing something will change i have to fully restart my comupter cause it wont let me get out of the game.the only reason i can think about right now is my cpu (intel e5200) which is not exactly good for that game but with it i dont realy think that it is the reason…i think there is an explanation for that. thanks in advanced!

Hey people ,
I bought TC SC Conviction yesterday , its not original though ;
So anyway I installed it , successfully ; had Skidrow (offline)crack inside , pasted it , started the game.
So here starts the reddish UBISOFT logo ; then Desktop !!! WTF !?! I don’t understand. I tried DirectX , C++, kept in the DVD but nothing worked out. Once I rebooted ; I started the game again , this time donno how I stepped to the mainmenu where all the freezed shooting scene are. So I went to the option , disabled the Antialiasing and applied ; then the game crashed again. After the I tried many many times but no luck.
I donno if anyone faced this shit , but if u gyz have any ways to fix these HELP !!
By the way my specs are -
Intel Inside Dual Core 2.6GHz
Windows XP sp2
2 GB DDR2 Ram
Nvidia XFX 9400GT 1GB PCI Express
80GB Sata HD

Similar to the freezes others have experienced, I am also experiencing freezes. My performance clears both the minimum and the recommended system requirements. The only thing I am sceptical about is my graphics card being an 8800GT as it was not fully supported for ‘Double Agent,’ however still clearing requirements and being supported by the game.
The problem:
When I try playing multiplayer my game freezes up. The screen flickers a bit and the majority of the time I eventually get space invaded. Little space invaders appear on my screen, then once left for a while the system restarts.
I have tried playing on the lowest possible graphics settings for the game but a similar effect still happens. I can also play on pretty high graphics and resolution settings in single player and not one FPS lag or crash/freeze. This error only occurs playing multiplayer and this would imply its not specifically my PC performance.
I was able to play the game on multiplayer perfectly fine the first day I bought it. It then started getting this error on the final section of the 2nd level ‘Russian Embassy.’ So I decided to skip this level and try playing on from the beginning of the 3rd level, but then the error occurred with that as well. This all happened only on the co-op story mode at first. So we tried another game mode (Hunter) and at first we managed to play the game fine. Reached the last section of ‘Russian Embassy’ and the same error happened again. Now the error occurs every time we try playing multiplayer. We have tried playing the game by hosting on both PCs but it’s only mine that freezes and gets space invaded, the other just crashes to windows again.
Anyone here able to resolve the issue that will provide help will be much appreciated.
P.S. There is still a possibility this is a ‘LAN’ bug and haven’t tried playing online yet.

Hi. For all you who have bought game via STEAM and encountered problem where game crashes just after entering the game with no error message try this: open steam, go to library-games then right click on splinter cell: conviction then properties – local files and click verify integrity of game cache and let it finish it might take some time but I hope this helps. I can´t apply the patch 1.02 here. It says that the game is not installed. I think this is happening because i´ve cracked the conviction_game.exe , but the patch needs the original executable. Can someone please upload the original conviction_game.exe for me? Thanks.

If it still has the same problem, right click My Computer, click the Hardware tab, click Device Manager and then check your Network adapters. If it has a question mark, that means the drivers aren’t installed for your onboard LAN Controllers, reinstall the drivers, and now you can play SCC.

I am running Nvidia 9800GT, and couldn’t see the MENUS either, until I disabled monitor number 2 on my multiple monitor setup. I know it seems so simple as to not require mentioning here, but thought I’d throw it out there anyway.

I have a really odd problem and I can’t find any help through google.
I bought the deluxe edition in the steam store and downloaded it.
I could play it for about 2 weeks untill I got this problem out of nowhere:
I start it from steam (I can see a small loading mouse and my steam avatar turns green wich means I’m in a game) I’m still at my desktop and after about 5sec that green avatar turns blue again and I get no message..no error, nothing! Just my old screen.
I really have no idea why at first it was still able to play and not it just won’t start even without any error notices, thats the thing that’s really making it so hard:(

hi im getting white pixels in the shadows on splinter cell conviction i turned off the hdr rendring and dynamic lighting and that dims the pixels but there still there the white pixels only appear on this game on my xfx 5770 and i get no problems on other games like this and its not over heating my temp when playing splinter cell conviction is min of 37 and max is 50 my system specs is

hi every who have error ubisoft game launcher error code 2 i can help. first delete splinter cell conviction all and its components then disable or turn of your antivirus. instal again scc (splinter cell conviction) and play.
NOTE: if you dont want that error again when you want play scc just disabe or shut down your antivirus and when you off game turn on or enable your antivirus. if your antivirus find a virus in scc dont delete it, take no action . if no action bution is gray check your antivirus setup and find that when antivirus find virus you can make your design what to do with them. me works

1) Open Control Panel

2) Add hardware > [Next]
3) Yes, I have connected the hardware > [Next]
4) Add a new hardware device (last option) > [Next]
5) Install the hardware that I manually select from the list > [Next]
6) Network adapters > [Next]
7) Microsoft ……n choose Microsoft Loopbak Adapters > [Next]
9) [Finish]
Now in My Network Connection ….u’l see another LAN connection icon …..Right click n change the IP Address ….for eg: 192.168.1.1 …n enable it

ATI random crashes – Solved mine, looked at card latency, it was 64, changed it to 128,
Eureka – no crashes as yet. Just finished the fairground episode and everything smooth.

About multiplayer freeze,
During coop game on LAN, both have excellent computer, Win 7 64 bit, Win 7 32 Bit, 2 core, ATI 5730 Video card and enough RAM,
Still have some freeze and we exit the game.
Solution is simple, worked for me, if you catch some freeze while playing instantly press ctrl+alt+del and go to task manager then return the game, freeze will be fixed and you will be paused the game.
By that way we both now able to play the game and finish it, every time it freezes I just call task manager by those combination and return the game. It works like a charm.
Give it a shot and spread this information if it works for you, I searched for answer for 2 weeks nothing popped up, just update your video card blah blah blah…

The game play but at the middle of playing it freezes and computer automatically restarts.

I got a problem with ‘SC-C’ When i start the game it run but after showing the ubisoft logo it’s come out with out showing any error massage.
What do i do i need help….plz help me.

Hello you all
I have this problem but it’s not as awful as the rest of you.
I can play the game on high settings and all but when people start shooting at me when I’m in a big mission outside , the game starts to go slow, very slow, like whe you’re outside in the whitehouse mission.
Even if i put the lowest settings it’s still playing very slow. what can I do to fix that.
im usin win7 64
nvidia gt110 1gb
8 GB Ram

I just solved the auto closeing system. Now it don’t come out after showing the ubisoft logo but i am tird of that fucking loading screen it don’t show the manu only 3 ball’s rounding in the rit corner.
What do i do i need help guy’s.

Hey Shafi …..u need an internet connection 2 play the game……if dnt connect 2 the net….u wil always end up seeing doz 3 balls at the corner….
And if u wanna play the game without internet connection…..try dis on fr perhaps

2) Add hardware > [Next]
3) Yes, I have connected the hardware > [Next]
4) Add a new hardware device (last option) > [Next]
5) Install the hardware that I manually select from the list > [Next]
6) Network adapters > [Next]
7) Microsoft ……n choose Microsoft Loopbak Adapters > [Next]
9) [Finish]
Now in My Network Connection ….u’l see another LAN connection icon …..Right click n change the IP Address ….for eg: 192.168.1.1 …n enable it

Cmon.. I can’t even start the game.. Just a black window pops up for 1 sec and then dissapears.. No clue.. Tried deleting the registry and reinstalling Ubisoft Game Launcher, also directx but still no help.. Windows Vista 32bit. Ati radeon HD 3650

i have playd that crap game. Pice of a shit. It’s an another bullshit game frm ubisoft. Low shooting expriance, crap grapix and overhalming movemant make me sick after playing 15 minit it make me vomite. So i just uninstall that crap game and i never wanna play it again.

Hello I have a really annoying problem
Since… forever I thought that graphics were the more important part of the game, now I realized not necessarily, the sound in Splinter Cell Conviction does not work for me, not in the main menu and not while playing, only while videos and loading screens it works. -.-
Since I didnt see a reply here that helped me I sencerely need someone to help me with this! It’s really important, this could be one of the best games in the series!
Help please!!
