The latest Fallout 3 DLC, Point Lookout is ready for download. This The Hills Have Eyes inspired adventure takes players into a scarier and darker realm in the wasteland where powerful freaks and mutant rednecks stalk the lands. But like most Fallout 3 DLCs, the only thing that will soil the pants of a few unfortunate gamers is a crash to the desktop or a game breaking bug that will haunt them in their sleep. If you’re one of the few who are experiencing such horrors then you might just find the answer you need right after the jump.

Problem #1: Fallout 3 Point Lookout crashes when entering Interrogation Room B
Possible Solution #1:
Turn off the PipBoy light before entering the room.
Problem #2: Fallout 3 Point Lookout goes to a black screen
Possible Solution #1: (By Layman from the Bethsoft Forums)
Press F5 to quicksave and then reload the game to continue at the point where you last quicksaved.
Problem #3: Fallout 3 Point Lookout crashes / crash to desktop / ctd when entering the Sacred Bog.
Possible Solution #1:
If you have Matt’s Mutant Mod (MMM) installed, disable it.
Possible Solution #2:
Download the Point Lookout Sacred Bog Fix file
Possible Solution #3: (By Layman from the Bethsoft Forums)
Just use the console command of tcl to activate no-clip and just go through the area as if you were walking through, then turn it off just before you get the seeds at the tree.
Problem #4: Fallout 3 Point Lookout has missing water textures
Possible Solution #1:
Download the latest update, update 1.6 (V1.6)
Problem #5: Missing / Incomplete textures when using Flickones Power Armor
Solution #1:
Download the ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated file
Problem #6: DLCs and Mods won’t work (for those still using v1.5)

AFAIK, there are basically three ways (workarounds), how to solve mods and 1.5 issue up to date:
1) Either reinstall game with 1.0.0.15 patch, latest Fake patch, which “fakes” 1.5 patch, for the game with 1.0.0.15 be compatible with Broken steel, Unofficial F3 patch, which solves 1.0.0.15 bugs and BSA manager to load all your DLC .bsa files (that patch 1.0.0.15 doesn’t loads automatically)
2) or use official 1.5 and FO3edit in masterupdate mode

i have the point look out add on, and got it in the data map. but when i get to the ferry, there are lots of big red things with white ! marks in it. and the dialogs dont have any sound. there is also no boats but the things that should be on the boat float in air. so i figured out how i could travel to point look out but while its loading it crashes to my desktop saying the program doesnt respond anymore please help me!

i have a freakin weird glitch when i go into bog entrance it spams a door openin sound and autosaves over and over and i cant move from lag so i leave and go back in and i get outside and stuff and it keeps reverting me over and over back to that spot i cant leave help please

i have a glitch well kinda. i go to the boat and i see some people but there faces are like bright purple and then the game crashes to my desktop

I have a crash similar to Manufactra. I don’t have any graphical glitches (well, one other DLC had a few missing sounds, but other than that…).
When I try to travel to Point Lookout, I get the information that my ticket was removed, the game loads, and then crashes to the desktop (program stopped responding). I’ve noticed that FFDShow plugins were showing up in my tray, so I went into configuration and disabled both Audio and Video decoders for Fallout3.exe. The game still crashes, I am unable to go to Point Lookout.
Any ideas?

As a side note, the first time around (the very first) I tried to go to Point Lookout, it took a while to unload (as I was playing the game for a while before), and during that time I heard music and stuff, and I think that may be connected to a cut-scene.
Now whenever I load, I’m already in the boat (made a quicksave there), and when I activate the bed and select “Travel to Point Lookout”, I get the above ‘mechanics’ immediately.
I’ll try to remove all my items and armor (gathered a few of those, including the Chinese Stealth Armor which I currently have on). Maybe that’ll help.

hey guys…. i have the same problem as manufactra i come to the farry boat those big red things are floating around and when i try to travel to point lookout it just crashes…. any ideas… plz answer..

I’m having the same problem as manufactra and (-)rvoje - I get to the ferry and I see a bunch of floating red exclamation marks sitting over the water. I’m assuming these are missing textures for the boat and boat driver because I can see the objects in the boat itself - like the bed, cabinet, chest, table, etc - because those textures were never missing.
What sux worst is that the missing textures aren’t just cosmetic — in other words there’s no way to stand on a missing boat texture and I drop straight in the water when I try. I finally tried interacting with each of the red exclamation marks and managed to find the boat driver and purchase tickets; then, after more dunks into the water than I’d like to admit, I finagled my way to the bed and triggered the trip to Point Lookout. Sadly it crashed just as it was loading up and it continues to crash everytime I try it again…
If the problem is that the textures are just missing then copying the DLC files over to the main program install location might help. If I try it I’ll respond

I have the same problem as Doc, it loads for a second after traveling, (black screen, music) then crashes to desktop

It’s annoying when I get poisouned by the seeds. I keep walkng back to the start and the game jus freezes (Xbox 360) It just locks up and I have to restart my console…

Big problem here.. point lookout crashes game to desktop for me too but ONLY point lookout i have all the dlc’s RETAIL 2 dvd discs.. i have 1.7 patch and no additional content. from what i can see in my crashlog its the intro movie clip to the bog thats screws up the game. we need to modify the file to not load if we want to go to point lookout.
