Is IBM To Blame For Sony Not Being The Console Market Leader?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

The Wall Street Journal recently published an article that sheds some light on why the PS3 is where it is right now. If this article were entirely true (I still have my doubts about it), then yes,  I guess Playstation fans only have IBM to blame for the downturn on their favorite console.

Left 4 Dead Download Content?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

It would appear that the award winning shooter has taken it to another level. Valve writer Chet Faliszek stated that L4D will indeed have its own set of downloadable content. I mean, yeah sure the gane is fun but rushing through the same scenarios over and over again is getting kinda old.

Bad Rumor: It would appear that L4D’s DLC requires a fee for 360 users (I dont know… blame Micro$oft). PC gamers however will be getting these things for free (Ahhh…. lucky).

Personal Note: I wanna try a new scenario…. with more Guns…. a rocket launcher may come in handy :D

We here at Game Brood have decided to get our shiny crystal balls out, mine is quite awesome, and decided to take a glimpse of the future, specifically, the year 2009. I am the PS3 gamer among the group so I have harnessed all of my crystal ball’s power into showing me what lies ahead for Sony’s troubled console, its games and its fans  in the new year. So without further ado - and any solid basis, proof and any sort of explanation whatsoever - here are my predictions for the PS3 in the year 2009.

Warhammer PTR patch 1.1.0

Monday, December 29th, 2008

It would seem that WAR is finally taking action, making it a bit closer to the MMO it was supposed to be… aside from the other fixes issued I’m sure you wont be disappointed by the new features WAR has brought upon us.

The update 1.1 patch is now live on the Public Test Server: Deathsword! Be one of the first to try out all the new changes. Below you will find all of the exciting features and improvements included in this update.

Highlights

  • Two New Careers - The Knight of the Blazing Sun and the Black Guard have joined their allies and are now available to play for everyone!
  • Open RvR Influence System – As part of our ongoing effort to encourage people to take part in oRvR, we are pleased to announce the release of an influence system geared solely to oRvR.  Players who participate in this part of WAR will now have additional incentives for fighting for their realm.  As part of this patch we have also made quite a number of changes and fixes to oRvR places and NPCs as well.
  • Easy Public Quests – PQs are great but sometimes it’s hard to get enough people together to complete them, especially in the lower tiers.  So, we are redesigning one PQ per chapter so that it can be completed by 1-3 people.
  • Chat Hyperlinking – One of the most requested features by the community has been adding the ability to hyperlink items, abilities and quests in the chat window and now it has been added.
  • Armor Set Improvements – We have made a number of adjustments to armor sets to ensure that they continue to be some of the most attractive items in the game. In addition we have made adjustments to ensure they are more frequently available to players at all levels.
  • Main Assist – RvR is exciting, chaotic and always challenging but this feature will make it just a little bit easier to help your group fight the good fight.
  • Player Statue System – Nothing says “you’ve made it” more than having a statue with your name on it in the capital city of your realm.
  • New Content – Whether it is new lairs, new quests and changes to items, this patch is full of lots of fun new content additions to the game.
  • User Interface – Lots and lots of fixes, changes and new additions to our user interface and API functionality, new additions to the chat system and graphic options incorporating community requested features a channel flashing on activity, the ability to turn the chat bubbles on/off, a gamma slider and so much more.

* Players may now create death knights on any realm once they reach level 55.
* Bonus Armor: The mechanics for items with bonus armor on them has changed (any cloth, leather, mail, or plate items with extra armor, or any other items with any armor). Bonus armor beyond the base armor of an item will no longer be multiplied by any talents or by the bonuses of Bear Form, Dire Bear Form, or Frost Presence.

Game Brood Reviews: Resident Evil: Degeneration

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Finally! Resident Evil Degeneration, a RE movie that isn’t directed or produced by Paul W.S. Anderson. The guy who replaced the scares for shocks and the horror for explosions in the last three Resident Evil movies. I still cringed at the image of Milla Jovovich riding her motorcycle through a stained glass window and then running over a licker with it. Flashy, overly edited, unnecessary slow-mo/bullet-time scene ensues. No. Paul W.S. Anderson. That’s not cool. You’re lucky gamers don’t hate you as much as Uwe Boll.

Anyway! So does Resident Evil: Degeneration, a RE movie that actually is connected to the popular survival/horror games, fair with my cynical eyes? Hit the link to find out!

A fan-made WoW movie that doesn’t suck | Craft of War

Monday, December 29th, 2008

With all the shitty WoW videos crafted by half-talented emo teenagers with tools like Windoze movie maker and Fraps (an unholy combination in the hands of the untrained), One can rarely find something as awesome as this WoW video, created by a real PRO — that deserves the all caps. Check out this WoW machinima created by Percula titled “The Craft of War : BLIND”. Oh and one more thing before you play the vid… Brace for epic!.
